taxi105 Reply to: House moving / Cracks Appearing.. I do not no if this helps, I had a similiar problem about eight years ago, we informed our insurance company who promptly sent specialist surveyor's along, they then monitered the property for movement over a period of 18 months, they then decided to go a head with underpinning, we had to move out. The house is now fine, in fact, in a much better condition than many in our road, we have certificates to prove it. I would not worry your problem it may not be that bad, some repairs are quite easy to undertakeand do not take that long. David 13/05/2010 16:09

3qn Reply to: House moving / Cracks Appearing.. It seems my house has moved a fair bit lately. The dinning room ceiling came down in its entirity about a month back of its own accord and now cracks are appearing upstairs too, worrying! 06/04/2010 18:57
JB Reply to: House moving / Cracks Appearing.. We do have a tree quite close to the house out the front (about 10-12 feet) so we are looking to get this removed, I will be asking the neighbors over the next couple of days if they have noticed anything as well. 06/10/2009 08:49
Ron Reply to: House moving / Cracks Appearing.. Sorry to hear this. If the cracks are bad, eg. not just in plaster, are they outside in the brickwork? If so, I would get it checked out before things get worse. 06/10/2009 06:14
citizen Reply to: House moving / Cracks Appearing.. Sorry to hear of your problems; there aren't many houses anywhere in the UK that don't have a few cracks. If you think you have more than your fair share, it may be worth looking at your drains (failures here can cause excessive water variations in the subsoil, which can cause expansion, or indeed erosion of surrounding earth, resulting in contraction - trees too close can also result in the same). Either way, don't shout too loudly about it; your house value has probably suffered enough in the last year or two already!!! Good luck. 05/10/2009 17:05
