MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING held on Tuesday may 5th 2009 at 8.00 pm in All
Saints Church Hall, Bercta Road, SE9.
PRESENT: Councillors John Hills, Mandy Brinkhurst and approximately 12 members.
APOLOGIES were received from our President, Mr.Clive Efford MP for Eltham and
Mr.John Lawrence.
CHAIRMAN: In his opening remarks the Chairman welcomed members for attending the
meeting. He explained that our President, Mr.Clive Efford MP had hoped to
attend, but Parliamentary duties prevented this.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: The Secretary's Report was read out by the Chairman.
Discussion on the Report would be left until later.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Copies of the Annual Financial Statement were given out
prior to the meeting for those wishing to inspect them. It was proposed,
seconded and resolved that the Report be accepted.
DISCUSSION ON SECRETARY'S AND TREASURER'S REPORTS: As discussed and accepted by
the members.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: The Chairman reported that to-date there are 513 households
who have paid their subscriptions. Considering the population of New Eltham
this should be higher, but we suffer from lack of people ;willing to do this.
Road Reps are urgently required to help us collect subscriptions and deliver
the Year Book. Unless we have money coming in our finances will go down and the
Association will suffer. If you could manage to do your road or, if you know
someone else, this will help.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS, HON.SOLICITOR., HON.AUDITOR AND GENERAL COMMITTEE: All
Officers and General Committee were re-elected. Miss C,M,V.Meers and Mr.S,C.
Stracey were also re-elected as Uiae-Presidents. The new Minister of All Saints
Church arrives in July 2009 when she will be invited to be elected as a
Vice-President. Mr. Mark Pattenden has volunteered to join the Committee. The
Chairman welcomed this news and duly thanked Mr.Pattenden, Mr,John Rose has
volunteered to become a Road Rep for the North section of Green Lane. He may
also decide to join the Committee, but would first like to attend a Committee
Meeting to decide.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS: Mr.John Rose from Green lane spoke about
the proposals for calming measures in the Road and said that this particular
scheme has not been well thought out. He, therefore, decided to call on houses
in Green Lane to get the views of the people and got them to sign a petition.
There were other problems concerning this road i.e. parking, bikes speed humps
etc. Councillor Hills said that all that was required was for the residents to
fill in the form and send it back; each individual can then have their say in
what they want in the road. This is the first consultation. Mr.Rose said it
took him 2 days to canvass 89 people most of-whom thought the proposals were a
load of rubbish. Evelyn Green thinks there should be an island near to
Cambridge Green. Speeding was discussed and several members complained about
Southwood Road where motorists go the other side of islands. Councillor Hills
reported that the Police Office in Goldharbour could be up and running by July
2009. Once opened it should be a deterrant. The Thursday clinic is no longer
run - CANE were out of pocket. Every 3 months, commencing 28th day 2009, in the
Eltham Centre, residents can use the Station there. The Chairman thanked all
members for coming. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chair at
8.50 pm. Wine, cheese and biscuits were served.
